I began my healthcare journey in 2009 as a CNA and went on to earn my RN from Bakersfield College in 2013. I later completed my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2018 and my DNP in 2022 from Samuel Merritt University.
My approach is rooted in patient-centered care across the lifespan, collaborative practice, and creating meaningful connections with our communities. I am fluent in Spanish.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband and three dogs, and watching science and space documentaries.
Christina Raines moved to Bishop after completing physician assistant (PA) school at Stanford University. Before that, she lived overseas in the Middle East for 3 years working in clinics for refugees. She enjoys medical missions and serving those in need. She was familiar with the local Bishop community through multiple backpacking trips with her family in the Eastern Sierras through the years, and through a local church’s connection to her home town. Since arriving here, she has been so blessed to be part of the important work done by the Toiyabe community, and to be part of the larger community here in Bishop. She is passionate about helping patients improve their health through practical, daily healthy choices. She is enjoying putting down permanent roots here in Bishop, and happy to be serving the community for many years to come!
In the 30+ years that I’ve been practicing medicine practically everything has changed. When I started practicing, I was using paper charts and even made home calls now I am using computers and sometimes even do video visits. The one thing I have learned throughout the years is the most important thing for me is a connection with the patient – either during a home visit or during a video visit. In my 30 years of practicing medicine, I have been all over the world – I have done refugee medicine, medicine in remote villages, in places like Nepal, Guatemala, Bangladesh, Columbia, Mexico, and I even worked in Beverly Hills. I have always had a love for the eastern Sierra and moved up to this area six years ago with my dogs and my daughter.Up here, I am able to hike in my beloved mountains and be close to nature like I always dreamed. I have loved every minute of working with rural patients, and I am so excited to continue my career here at Toiyabe.
